A recent column said that it is important for a wife to adapt to her husband. If that is true, what about our great 53-year marriage?

I was Army; she went Navy.

Every relationship is different, but the one thing that binds is the love for one another. I did not read the opinion piece that said it is important that a wife adapt to the husband. To me it is important that both adapt and learn to accept one another, and enjoy both the differences and commonalities. Then communicate if something happens with the other that becomes a problem, and work it out. It takes both partners to adapt.
