Beaumont Enterprise

If it will cost $10 million to bring the Battleship Texas to Beaumont, that’s too much. Way too much, especially because it’s not clear that the ship will ever generate the kind of revenue it needs to sustain and justify its presence on the riverfront.

History is important to keep around. I toured the battleship Texas way back in 1987. It was amazing how the sailors lived worked and slept on it. All that being said, it takes constant maintenance to keep any ship afloat, much less one of that age. If they truly want the battle ship, they might want to consider dry docking and mounting it. Keeping in the water is not the best way to preserve it and keep it's history alive.
