Mr. and Mrs. John Christopher Wommack
Jessica Marie Crawford and John Christopher Wommack, PFC, United States Army, were joined in marriage on Saturday, June 7, 2008, at 7 p.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Robstown, Texas. Monsignor Michael Howell was Celebrant for the double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Ms. Janet Conally Crawford of Corpus Christi and Mr. John Yale Crawford Sr. of Pasadena, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harlew Conally and Mr. and Mrs. Don Crawford, all of Corpus Christi. Chris is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John E. Wommack of New Braunfels. He is the grandson of Mrs. Clinton Guenther and the late Mr. Guenther of New Braunfels, Mr. and Mrs. Max R. Wommack Sr. of Seguin and the late Christiana Eiband Wommack.
Escorted by her mother and father, the bride wore an Italian matte satin wedding gown. The shaped neckline dipped to a soft v-back and featured a dropped waistline. The bodice of the diamond white gown was encrusted with silver beads and a pleated upcut detail at the empire. The beading and triple pleat was mimicked at the hemline and along the train of the A-line skirt. The bride finished her look with a silver headpiece, necklace and earrings. Her veil was hand sewn and edged with crystals and pearls to match the gown's bodice. The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of white roses and Stargazer Lilies. Her maternal grandmother’s crystal Rosary was intertwined with the flowers of her bouquet.
Janet Crawford, the bride’s mother, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Alyssa Locklear of College Station, sister of the groom, and Nicole Eller and Melissa Hans, both of Corpus Christi and cousins of the bride. The bridesmaids wore floor length, strapless fuchsia gowns, and carried bouquets of Irises, Gerbera Daisies and Stargazer Lilies. Flower girls were Lia Eller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Eller, and Ryann Downey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Brad Downey. The ring bearer was Landon Eller, twin brother of Lia Eller. Members of the house party were Becky Noakes, Nicole Collins, Andrea Stebenne, Katie McEnery, and Alexis Westerman.
Sean Mooney of Corpus Christi, long-time friend of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Roye Moran of Ft. Worth, college friend of the groom, Reed Christofferson, PFC, United States Army, of Columbus, Georgia, and John Crawford, Jr. of Corpus Christi, brother of the bride. Ushers were Chance Locklear of College Station, brother-in-law of the groom, Nathan Bickham of Three Rivers, cousin of the bride, and Weldon Riebschleager of College Station, cousin of the bride.
Readings were given by Gerry Petty of New Braunfels, aunt of the groom, Valerie Riebschleager of Corpus Christi, aunt of the bride, and Kendra Riebschleager of College Station, cousin of the bride. Soloist was Amanda Petty of College Station, cousin of the groom, and pianist was Ada Sweet of New Braunfels. Altar servers were Robert Lee Hans of Alice, cousin of the bride, and Katie Ragan of Sinton, friend of the bride.
Following the ceremony, guests gathered at The American Bank Center in Corpus Christi for a cocktail, hors d'oeuvres and dance reception. The bride's cake was a three tiered square white cake topped with the initial "W". The groom's cake was a chocolate cake decorated with the 3rd Ranger Battalion scroll. The Grand March was led by Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Haas of New Braunfels, friends of the groom's family. The occasion was especially memorable as the Haases were married on June 7, 1958 and were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.
On the eve of the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Weldon Reibschlager, the bride's aunt and uncle. A bridal luncheon was given by the groom's mother at the Glass Pavilion Restaurant at the Omni Bayfront Tower Hotel on the day of the wedding.
The groom is stationed at Ft. Benning, Georgia, the bride is employed by Square D/Schneider Electric in Atlanta, and they reside in Columbus, Ga.
