Janice Vickers will appear before 12 of her peers today on a charge of murder, three years to the day after she allegedly ran over an 82-year-old woman with her car near Startzville in 2006.
Vickers, 48, stands accused of intentionally striking and killing Shirley Lindenbaum with her Chevrolet Tahoe on Nov. 3, 2006. A two-year investigation resulted in Vickers’ arrest on a charge of murder on Dec. 11, 2008.
Jury selection took the entire day Monday, with eight women and four men selected to serve.
Arraignment and opening testimony begin today. Vickers’ lawyer said Monday his client would plead not guilty.
If convicted, she faces five years to life in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
Prosecutors expect the trial to last a week and a half.
