Christus Santa Hospital — New Braunfels has transitioned its two clinics to a Bexar County nonprofit health center as of Tuesday.
Centromed, which has been serving Bexar County for 36 years, will be providing services at Christus’ two centers at 1614 West San Antonio Street and 1034 West County Line Road.
Christus Santa Rosa Health System President Don Beeler said it is a positive change.
“This initiative reflects the commitment made by Christus Santa Rosa when it came to New Braunfels in 2008 to further expand access to needed health care services in the greater New Braunfels community,” Beeler said. “Centromed’s mission and values are closely aligned with those of Christus health and I am confident the patients who visit these facilities will be pleased with services and care they receive.”
Centromed has 17 clinics throughout Bexar County, providing health care to people in San Antonio, Somerset and Windcrest. This will be the first addition outside of Bexar County.
Centromed’s founder, Ernesto Gomez said their clinics offer family medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, dental and behavioral health.
“We are pleased to be part of this collaborative effort with Christus Santa Rosa and we look forward to serving the New Braunfels community,” Gomez said.
He said the clinics would accept Medicaid, CHIP, Medicare and most private insurances. Patients without health coverage are charged on a sliding scale, based on income.
