Demand reps read health care reform

Published October 1, 2009

No matter what your opinion or side you may fall on in the health care reform debate, one thing should be perfectly clear: Demand that our representatives read the bill before they vote on it. With all the amendments being added to address one problem or the next, who knows exactly what the bill will do in its final version. Amendments that would allow 72 hours to read the bill before a vote were shot down. Why? How does that do any service to the American people who will have to live with the outcome of this very important legislation?

I am asking fellow Texans to join me in contacting all our representatives from Texas and demand they read a final version of health care legislation before a vote.

If we don’t hold them to high standards, expectations and accountability, if they don’t understand what they are voting on, we will have to share the blame for the consequences, good or bad.
