Robert Clay Baker was born in San Antonio on Dec. 17, 1941. Robert returned to Christ on Feb. 13, 2009. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Hazel Baker, and his daughter, Jeanne Lynn. Robert is survived by his wife of 43 years, Patricia; his children, Amy Canter and spouse Richard, and Charlie Baker; his grandchildren, Chase and Hays Canter; his sisters, Sharon Aloy and spouse Ron, and Nancy Fieseler and spouse Hal; sisters-in-law Linda Parker and Sandy Ligocky; and many loving nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
Robert retired after teaching and coaching after 34 years at MacArthur and New Braunfels high schools. Robert graduated from Edison High School and Southwest Texas. He also served proudly in the Marine Corps. He enjoyed history, model railroading, drawing, wood carving and football. He was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home on Sunday, Feb. 15. Services will be at Oakwood Baptist Church in New Braunfels on Monday, Feb. 16 at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in San Antonio. The family suggests memorials be given to Oakwood Baptist Church.
