Comal County sees high voter turnout

Published November 4, 2009

Voter turnout was high in Comal County for a non-presidential election year with almost 12 percent of registered voters casting a ballot.

Comal County voters voiced support for 10 of the 11 proposed amendments to the Texas Constitution.

The lone amendment not supported by local voters was Proposition 4, which would allocate funding to establish more research universities throughout Texas.

Despite Comal’s vote, Proposition 4 passed statewide, along with every other amendment on the ballot.

The County Clerk’s office reported that 8,414 people voted in the election.

The 12 percent county turnout easily dwarfed the most recent constitutional election in 2007, where 8 percent of voters visited the polls.
