Chilly temperatures could usher in a rare sight in New Braunfels. The National Weather Service is predicting snow.
Cold and wet weather is expected throughout the week, with a good chance for rain that could turn to sleet and snow by Thursday morning, according to the NWS.
“I don’t expect any of it to accumulate, but if people are out, they might see some flakes,” said NWS forecaster Pat McDonald.
Highs are expected to hover at around 50 degrees all week, with the temperature dropping down into the low 30s at night.
“It’s definitely chilly,” said McDonald.
The cold front blew in Monday, with the temperature dropping 15 degrees in 15 minutes around 3 p.m., McDonald said. Light rain is expected throughout the week, with snow expected to fall throughout central Texas, including in neighboring Austin and San Marcos.
The last time it snowed in New Braunfels was a few flakes in December, which was the first time the city had seen snow since Christmas Eve of 2004.
