Glick given maximum time for evading arrest

Published November 13, 2009

Andrew Star Glick, convicted Oct. 7 of evading arrest with a motor vehicle, was sentenced Thursday to 20 years in prison.

Judge Gary Steel of the 274th Judicial District, sentenced Glick, 35, to the maximum sentence allowed. Evading arrest is normally a state jail felony, but Glick’s prior felony convictions enhanced the charge to a second-degree felony.

Glick was arrested April 6, 2008 after leading New Braunfels police on a brief chase in a stolen truck.

Sammy McCrary, chief felony prosecutor for Comal County, presented the court with a list of prior convictions and 4 witnesses who testified to being victims of Glick’s previous crimes.

Glick has convictions stretching back to 1993 for attempted malicious wounding, assault and battery, theft, resisting arrest and assaulting a peace officer, among others.

“I’m please with the conviction,” McCrary said. “A guy with a record like that – at least he’ll be off the roads.”
