A Bulverde family lost its home Wednesday night in a blaze that firefighters battled until early Thursday morning.
Bulverde Fire Department was called to 31117 Wildcat Drive for a structure fire about 6 p.m. Wednesday, Bulverde Fire Marshal Steve Simpson said.
By the time firefighters arrived at the scene, the house was already in flames, Simpson said. The family — a married couple and their four kids, were all outside.
“It was an old wood frame home and the family had lots of property in the house,” Simpson said. “The house went up quick and its structure made it very difficult for firefighters to get in there and fight it quickly.”
The 2393-square-foot house, built in 1976, was destroyed. The family’s belongings are covered by insurance.
Bulverde, Spring Branch, Hollywood Park, Bexar County and Leon Springs fire departments all responded to the blaze. Firefighters were at the scene until 1 a.m., Simpson said.
The cause of the fire is still undetermined, but Simpson said it was not arson.
Comal County Fire Marshal Wayne Ellington said it was most likely caused by a faulty electrical outlet.
