Mr. and Mrs. Cody Vincent Chapman
Krista Ann Grantham and Cody Vincent Chapman, were united in marriage, at First Protestant Church of New Braunfels on Saturday, April 4, 2009, at 5:30 in the evening. Pastor Rusty Rice of Oakwood Baptist Church officiated the double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Larry R. Grantham of New Braunfels. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Grantham also of New Braunfels and Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Holcomb of Luling, Texas.
The groom is the son of Mr. Floyd Chapman of San Marcos, Texas and Mrs. Lynette Chapman-Vasill of Schertz, Texas. He is the grandson of Mrs. Ruth Chapman of San Marcos, Texas and the late Mr. Travis Chapman and Mrs. Mary Frye of Stillwater, Oklahoma and the late Mr. E. Moses Frye.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore an ivory, hand beaded and embroidered silk organza gown by Lazaro. Delicate champagne beading, embroidery and Chantilly lace insets adorned the gowns strapless sweetheart bodice, elongated torso with circular skirt, and chapel length train. The dress was complimented by an ivory, chapel length veil that had crystal beading along the edge. The bride's bouquet was an arrangement of white stephanotis, roses, tulips and hydrangea. It was hand tied with ivory ribbon and pearls.
Maid of honor was Stacey Grantham, sister of the bride. Serving as bridesmaids were Erica Holcomb, cousin of the bride, Brandi Traylor, sister of the groom, and childhood friend, Lauren Mechler Bolin. Also serving as bridesmaids were college teammates Ashley Rodgers and Dana Pharis and college roommates, Megan McLane and Dana Pool. Krista's bridesmaids wore a slate blue, silk shantung, modified A-line, tea length dress also by Lazaro. The dress was accented with a gathered sweetheart neckline, detail at the empire waist, and a bow at the back. They carried a hand tied bouquet of antique hydrangea, twedia, and sweet pea.
Serving the groom as best man was childhood friend, Hagan Cohle. Groomsmen included Douglas Traylor, brother-in-law of the groom and college friend Daniel Meade. Also serving as groomsmen were Daniel Strange, Cody Erben, Cody Werth, Joshua Speck and Nicholas Dixon all childhood friends of the groom.
The flower girl was Anna Rodgers, daughter of college friends Jobe and Ashley Rodgers. Carson Traylor, nephew of the groom and son of Douglas and Brandi Traylor served as ring bearer. Ushers were Dallas Miller, friend of the groom, Connor Grantham, brother of the bride, Clay Holcomb, cousin of the bride, and Matteo Ongaro, cousin of the groom.
Scripture reading was done by Micah Williams, long time friend of the bride and Will Stevens, youth minister of the bride sang “A Page is Turned". Cousin of the groom, Shannon DeYoung sang “How Beautiful" as the couple prayed and then were joined in prayer by the wedding party. Attending the guest book and passing out programs were Shannon DeYoung, Michela Ongaro, and Matteo Ongaro, all cousins of the groom.
A beautiful dinner and dance reception was held at McKenna Events Center immediately following the ceremony. The bride's cake was a five tiered, ivory butter cream frosted cake topped with flowers and a pearl encrusted monogram. The groom's cake was a variety of different flavored cheesecakes arranged at different levels and topped with chocolate covered strawberries and chocolate balls. The center cheesecake was decorated as a baseball. The couple left the reception to honeymoon in the Dominican Republic. They are making their home in New Braunfels.
A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom's parents at Gruene River Grill on Friday, April 3. Desserts for the evening were the bride and grooms favorite childhood desserts from each grandmother. A lovely meal was enjoyed by all as well as toasts to the bride and groom and a slide show of the couple.
