Smithson Valley’s infield converges on pitcher Cameron Hodges after he collected the final out Saturday against Eagle Pass in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO — An interruption from passing thunderstorms only delayed the inevitable this past weekend as Smithson Valley finished off a two-game sweep of Eagle Pass at Northside ISD’s sports complex.

After winning the opener 4-2 on Thursday, the Rangers (34-5) took a 10-5 lead in Game 2 on Friday before inclement weather halted the contest in the bottom of the fifth. Head coach Chad Koehl’s team went on to win 13-6 Saturday afternoon to punch its ticket to the Region IV-6A finals this week against Los Fresnos.
