Smithson Valley sophomore Zayden High supplied a game-high 31 points Tuesday night as the Rangers ran past East Central for a District 27-6A win.

Smithson Valley’s quest for a second straight Class 6A playoff berth took a big step forward following Tuesday night’s 73-52 rout of East Central at home.

Now, the Rangers (12-8, 6-5) will turn their attention to a crucial three-game stretch today, Friday and Saturday against district heavyweights Clemens, Steele and Judson. Two of those contests were rescheduled from earlier this season due to COVID-19, setting up a difficult stretch run for head coach Ike Thornton’s squad.
