SPRING BRANCH — An extra degree of difficulty was added to Smithson Valley’s playoff chase following a 55-51 setback against Clemens Thursday night at home.

The Rangers (12-9, 6-6) entered Friday night’s District 27-6A contest against Steele sitting at fourth place in the league standings ahead of both South San (5-6 in 27-6A) and Wagner (5-6 in 27-6A). Smithson Valley also has a 27-6A game scheduled for Saturday on the road against league leader Judson.
