The New Braunfels girls soccer team rebounded from its first District 26-6A setback of the season by blanking San Marcos 2-0 Friday night at Unicorn Stadium.
The Lady Unicorns (10-2-2, 4-1) saw the start time of their match against the visiting Lady Rattlers pushed up due to the icy weather that moved in prior to the contest. However, head coach Eric Norris’ squad was still able to scorch the back of the net twice thanks to strikes from Hannon Joseph and Caityln Hernandez.
Joseph assisted on Hernandez’s goal, while Presley Starch set up Joseph’s tally with an assist of her own. New Braunfels goalkeeper Meli Garza registered a shutout without being forced to make a save.
Up next for the Lady Unicorns is a 7:15 home match this Tuesday night against district leader Clemens (4-0-1 in 26-6A).
