Saunders, James Robert Jr.

James Robert (Jim) Saunders, Jr. of Canyon Lake, Texas, passed away at home on Monday, November 18, 2013.  

Jim was born on April 3rd, 1949, in Houston, Texas, to James Robert Saunders, Sr. and Rebecca Aubertin Saunders.   

He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School (Houston) and held a B.A. degree in Communications from the University of Houston.

During the 1970s and early 1980s, Jim worked as a seismic geophysicist for Western Geophysical Company and HPI (Houston Processing Inc.).  

He subsequently started his own home construction business, Insurance Construction Enterprises, and continued to work in construction and home repair as a general craftsman after moving to Canyon Lake in 2000.

In the last few years before his death, Jim returned to geophysical work as a seismic data processing consultant.

Jim was a lifelong outdoor enthusiast and derived great pleasure from hunting and fishing trips with friends and family.  

He was a devoted uncle and grandfather and a member of the William Hightower Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution.

Jim is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Simon Baugh, and granddaughter, Holly Baugh, all of Ringoes, NJ; sister, Patricia St. Germain, of Canyon Lake; brother and sister-in-law Clifford (Hank) and Sandra Saunders, of Missouri City, TX;  nephew and niece-in-law Justin and Patricia Harrison; nieces Jo Anne Johnson, Lori Dziuk, and Rebecca Saunders; nephews-in-law Bobby Johnson Jr. and Aaron Dziuk; great-nephew, Michael Assumma; and great-nieces, Alexis Johnson and Elizabeth Johnson.  

He is also survived by his aunt and uncle-in-law, Marian and Clanton Rylander; uncle, William Aubertin III; and several cousins.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2013, at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in Sattler, Texas, from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm, with funeral services following at 1:30 pm. Interment to follow at Mountain Valley Cemetery, Sattler.
