Grover W. Needham, age 94, went home on November 6th, 2018 to be with his Lord Jesus Christ. He was the son of Grover and Beulah Needham born September 4th, 1924 in Mount Enterprise, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Margie Needham, and grandson, Jonathan Callender. He is survived by his sisters, Betty Jo Needham, Mahdeen Evans and husband Bob, sons Larry Needham and wife Jan, Randy Needham and wife Lucie, daughters Nancy Campbell and husband Jim, and Judy Callender and husband Bruce. He was the proud grandfather of: Sean Crocker, Jonathan, Brittany, Matthew, and Joshua Callender, Adam Campbell, Carrie McCollister, Daniel Needham, Jeff, Christopher, and John Needham. He was blessed by eleven great-grandchildren.
Grover always loved the sea, beginning his life as a sailor when he joined the Merchant Marines at age 18. After marrying Margie, he talked her into sailing as much as she would allow. He went on to take amazing trips through the Panama Canal and across the Atlantic Ocean. Grover also loved the Word of God. He followed God’s call a little later in life, dedicating his life to ministry and studying at seminary in retirement. His study of scripture continued up until the day he died. Now he studies Jesus face to face.
Grover loved, and was loved by, his family and left a legacy of faithfulness that has affected generations. We will dearly miss his stories and poetry, but we know he is happy with the great love of his life, Margie, and with his Lord.
We mourn but heaven sings. Grover is home.
