On December 6, 2013 Dustin Wayne Hauptrief perished while serving onboard the USS Denver stationed out of Sasebo Japan.
He was a career sailor who loved the United States of America and the US Navy.
Dustin was born on Tuesday April 26, 1983 and spent the short 30 years of his life living it to the fullest and conquering his dreams.
He spent the last eight years of his life in the Navy traveling the world and even served a tour in Operation Enduring Freedom & Operation Iraqi Freedom, before being stationed to the Pacific Fleet.
Dustin is preceded in death by his grandfathers Jesse and Melvin. He leaves behind his wife Mary Ann and his son Andrew Wayne.
He also leaves behind his father Kerry, mother Shirley, brother Tim and his wife Angie, sister Kristi and her husband Chad, Grandmother Dora White and Grandmother Dorothy Hauptrief and countless other relatives and friends.
All of us left behind are honored for his service to this great nation and look forward to the day that we may see him again.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 20, 2013 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 181 S. Santa Clara, New Braunfels, Texas 78130 with Reverend Don Ofsdahl officiating.
A reception will follow the funeral services and then a procession will depart the church at approximately 1:45 PM in route to Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery where interment will follow at 2:30 PM, with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: The Wounded Warrior Project or Fisher House located at the San Antonio Military Medical Center located in San Antonio Texas. Arrangements are with: Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home.
