NEW BRAUNFELS — A New Braunfels woman took advantage of her relationship with a family and sexually assaulted a boy last month in the city, local police said.
Police arrested Valorie Martinez Baker, 38, about 10 a.m. Friday at police headquarters, said Capt. John McDonald of the New Braunfels Police Department. He said officers arrested Baker on a warrant and took her to Comal County Jail.
A jail spokeswoman said Baker was charged with sexual assault of a child before she posted $100,000 bond and was released from the facility the same day.
Baker assaulted the boy Dec. 21 and the boy told about the encounter, McDonald said.
“Detectives began investigating this case after a 15-year-old male made an outcry that Baker had inappropriate sexual contact with him inside the city of New Braunfels jurisdiction,” McDonald said in a written statement released late Friday afternoon.
He said investigators believe the sexual contact occurred in a vehicle, but he hesitated to give more details about the alleged assault.
McDonald said Baker is a friend of the victim’s family. The police spokesman declined to give details about exactly where in the city the assault occurred, or when or to whom the boy first reported the assault.
Detectives continue to investigate the alleged crime.
