Hinojosa walks out of committee meeting in protest

WASHINGTON — U.S. Rep. Rubén Hinojosa (D-Mercedes) joined Democratic colleagues in walking out of a Wednesday committee debate on a Republican bill to rewrite the Workforce Investment Act.

In a news release, Hinojosa, who represents portions of New Braunfels and is the ranking member of the Subcommittee on Higher Education and Workforce Training, said he and fellow Democrats John Tierney (D-Mass.) and George Miller (D-Calif.) left the hearing in protest.
