A 21-year-old New Braunfels woman was arrested Monday in connection with a May 22 shooting that sent a 34-year-old man to an area hospital.
David Ferguson, New Braunfels Police Department communications coordinator, said police arrested Chelsea Williams-Wallace without incident at a business address in the 100 block of East Green Valley Drive around 2 p.m. on Monday.
“An arrest warrant for Williams-Wallace had been signed by a judge on May 29, charging her with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for her role in the shooting that occurred on May 22 in the 500 block of Ventura Drive,” Ferguson said. “Williams-Wallace was then transported to the Comal County Jail and bond was set at $100,000. The investigation into the shooting incident continues and NBPD continues to seek tips from the public.”
Around 2:10 a.m. May 22, NBPD officers responding to reports of shots being fired on Ventura Drive found evidence of a shooting but didn’t immediately locate the victim, who later called 9-1-1 from his residence in the 200 block of Leisure Village Drive, in Guadalupe County.
The man, who had suffered a non life-threatening gunshot wound to his arm, was taken by ground EMS to San Antonio Military Medical Center. Police did not reveal the name of the victim, who survived, but believe he and Williams-Wallace knew each other.
Williams-Wallace, charged with the second-degree felony, remained jailed Tuesday afternoon. Ferguson said NBPD’s criminal investigations division is still reviewing the incident.
“The investigation is ongoing,” he said. “Anyone with information is urged to contact us directly or through Crime Stoppers.”
