The Canyon Cougars ended their season on sour note Friday, falling to Boerne Champion, 37-27.

The Chargers dominated Canyon for most of the game, and although the Cougars battled back in the fourth quarter, Boerne ultimately spoiled senior night at Cougar Stadium.

Senior quarterback Lane Fife threw for 244 yards and four touchdown passes in his last game in red and white, and said the loss was a tough way to end a frustrating year.

“Obviously it was disappointing,” said Fife. “We would have like to make the playoff and make a deep run, but it seems like things just didn't go our way sometimes.”

The Cougars finished the year with a 3-7 record and a 2-5 mark in District 27-4A.

“You never want to lose,” said Canyon Coach Les Davis. “But regardless of how this year ended, this is a very special group of kids. They may not be the biggest or the fastest, but you'll never find anyone who gives more effort.”

The Cougars were resilient Friday, battling back from a 30-7 deficit in the third quarter, but ultimately let the Champion Chargers spoil senior night at the Cougar Den.
