Taylor Swift

As we all feared, Wurstfest is canceled for this year. It is the first time in their 60-year history that the festival has been canceled. After news of the Comal County Fair being canceled, we all knew it was just a matter of time before Wurstfest followed. It’s my favorite event in our city, one that I know thousands of people look forward to each year.

Each week we see the opening dates at local music venues pushed back further and further. As time ticks away we start to accept the fact that live music may not happen this year and if it does it will look vastly different. As I write this column, I just heard that the Musicfest in Steamboat, Colorado has been canceled for January 2021. At press time there was no official word on the Gruene Music & Wine Festival. The sad thing about these festivals canceling is the impact it has on our local nonprofit organizations. Many depend on money raised at these events for a big portion of their yearly budget. At this point, all we can do is hope for better times in 2021.
