Schlitterbahn Waterparks and Resorts in New Braunfels raised rates for lifeguards and housekeepers for the 2019 season. Deep guards (lifeguards who get further training to work certain attractions) will now be paid $10 an hour, shallow lifeguards 16 and over will start at $9 an hour, and housekeepers $11 an hour. Returning staff will also see the bump in pay.

Schlitterbahn evaluates all benefits annually, including pay and has adjusted rates several times over the last five years. With continued growth and competition for talented staff, pay is always part of the equation. But more important to many young staff members is the opportunity to grow and enjoy their day at work.

“Schlitterbahn is a place where you can learn key leadership skills,” said Darren Hill, general manager for Schlitterbahn New Braunfels. “We hire individuals as young as 15 as lifeguards and we make sure they have an opportunity to grow into leaders over the years.”

The Resort at Schlitterbahn is getting busier and busier year-round, according to Hill. The need for talented housekeepers peaks every summer and great staff are always welcome to apply.

“Everyone who works in our resort and park become a little part of our guests’ fond memories. It really is a job you can love,” said Hill.
