A new senior living community is coming to New Braunfels — and with chefs, studio- or suite-style bedrooms and socialization areas, the “resort-style” center is aiming to elevate what assisted living looks like.

The Blake Management Group, in partnership with LifeCare Properties, will be introducing The Blake at New Braunfels, with construction set to start soon and to end in fall of 2020.

The facility will be in the Creekside area, close to Resolute Health Hospital, and will offer a memory-support area of the community, focusing on Alzheimer’s and dementia care.

“By investing in industry leading engagement tools and proprietary programs … we will provide what we believe is an unmatched experience for residents with cognitive changes and the peace of mind for their loved ones,” Jeremy Cole, CEO of Blake Management Group, said in a press release.

Both based in Mississippi, this is Blake Management Group and LifeCare Properties’ first time partnering together and the first Texas development for both groups.

New Braunfels was selected from a short list of 10 potential locations after the partners felt it fit the pro-development atmosphere they were looking for, said Adam Mitchell, LifeCare Properties director of development and construction.

“We just really fell in love with New Braunfels and feel it fit the mission of what we are trying to do,” Mitchell said.

The facility will be a 93,000-square-foot assisted living and memory care community, and will include a chapel, three dining areas, multiple social areas and more, Cole said.

“New Braunfels is a great town, it’s beautiful, and we feel we have a lot to contribute with this type of living community,” Cole said. “Senior care is what we do, we have a passion for it, and we’re excited to bring that to New Braunfels, Texas.”

The Blake at New Braunfels will be situated at the intersection of I-35 and FM 306, according to the press release.

“We’re excited by the pro-development atmosphere we’ve experienced in New Braunfels,” said Brooks Holstein, managing partner with LifeCare Properties, in the release. “Combined with the natural beauty of the area and the charm and amenities the city offers, we’re convinced we’ve selected the perfect site for the Blake.”

The new facility will help to create about 80 jobs in New Braunfels, Mitchell said.

“We take pride in hiring the best staff,” Cole said. “Our communities are staffed with registered nurses 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and we take pride in our food — we do not just hire an elevated cook, we hire real chefs.”

Cole said Blake Management Group takes pride in making sure food is a top priority and that it is appealing regionally, as well.

“We do not serve the same thing at our Louisiana locations that we would in our Texas location,” Cole said. “We want to make sure our residents are eating food they find delicious and familiar.”

It isn't as easy as developing any other residential facilities when you look at a senior living facility. There are many factors that need to be taken into account apart from just location and floor area. To implement high-end advances makes the project even more intensive.
