Cristina and Hector Méndez of Gruene are excited to announce the engagement and upcoming wedding of their son, Gabriel “Bo” Méndez to Sloane Taylor.
Bo is a 2008 graduate of Canyon High School. He received his BA in Sociocultural Anthropology from New York University in 2012. He returned to NYU to obtain a Master’s Degree in Museum Studies, which he completed in 2016. He works as the Programs & Communications Coordinator for Brooklyn Historical Society, a museum in New York City, while also making his mark on the city’s cultural landscape as a writer and musician.
Sloane is the daughter of Tim and Debra Taylor of Houston, Texas and granddaughter of the late Vera Taylor of New Braunfels. She is a 2008 graduate of Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart in Bethesda, Maryland. She received her BA in Art & Social Consciousness from the Gallatin School of Individualized Study at NYU in 2012 and went on to achieve certification in Culinary Management from the Institute of Culinary Education. She works as the Associate Manager of Data Operations at a marketing company in Brooklyn while pursuing various side projects including a food blog and a textile company.
The couple met in New York and have since traveled the world together, but nothing is better than returning to their home state to say “I do”. This next adventure will be their biggest yet. The wedding will take place at the Gruene Estate on October 8, 2017. Bo and Sloane will spend their honeymoon in Asheville, North Carolina before returning to their home (and their two cats) in Brooklyn.
